Mission: To provide quality, dependable, affordable and safe child care for 90 children from low income families while the parents are striving to break the cycle of dependence on public assistance by working or enrolled in a job training program. 95% of the families Rainbow Child Care Center serves live below the poverty level. More than baby sitting, we provide a growing, nurturing environment for children age 12 months to five years. Tuition is based on family income and family size. Over half of the children are receiving Child Care Assistance from the State of Louisiana. History: Rainbow was started in 1983 with the mission” to strengthen working families with a quality child development program” by two area churches Aldersgate United Methodist Church and Macedonia Baptist Church. Soon after opening, the center was licensed by the State of Louisiana as a Class A Day Care center. We are inspected annually by the Louisiana Department of Licensing, the Louisiana Fire Marshall and the local health unit. Our Goals: First, provide our Rainbow children with quality programs that will give them educational and social benefits that endure for a lifetime. Second, provide a healthy environment with an emphasis on eliminating hunger so that our children can grow and learn. Third, provide a safe environment for children while their parents work and professional support for families in crisis through parenting classes and counseling by a licensed social worker.
