President

Mark A. Myers - Mark has been President of the Board of Directors since 2002.  He joined the Board in 1995 after graduating from the United Way’s “BoardsWork” program.  Mark is an attorney who practices law with Pajares & Schexnaydre LLC in Covington, Louisiana.  He also serves on the Boards of the Gourmet Gala and Leadership Slidell, and he is a 1993 graduate of the Leadership Slidell program.  Mark also serves as the Chairman of the Civil Service Board for Fire Protection District 1 in St. Tammany Parish.  Mark lives in Slidell with his wife, Vickie.  He has two children, Sarah and Jacob.

 

 

Vice President

Darrell Smith - Darrell has been a member of the Rainbow Child Care Center Board of Directors for 4 years.  He is a retired senior naval officer with over 23 years experience in oceanography, meteorology and hydrography in support of global military operations.  He has held several leadership positions and has served on numerous Admiral's staffs.  After retiring from the Navy, he was a Regional Business Development/Program Manager for Battelle Memorial Institute, a not-for-profit R&D company, supporting the Intelligence Community.  His was most recently the Director of the Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) Laboratory for the Hydrographic Science Research Center, The University of Southern Mississippi.  He joined the U.S. Department of State a little over a year ago as the Director of the New Orleans Passport Agency.  He is also a 1999 graduate of Leadership Slidell.

 

 

Treasurer

Angela Smith -  Angela has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2003.  She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Southeastern Louisiana University with a degree in Finance.  After graduation she served as a Budget Analyst for the City of Alexandria, Virginia.  Currently she is a Senior Financial Analyst for Tulane University Hospital and Clinic.  She is concurrently pursuing her MBA from the University of New Orleans.  Angela lives in Slidell with her husband Darrell.

 

 

Secretary

Gail Ledet - Gail became a Rainbow Child Care Center Board member by way of Boardswork!, a local program offered to initiate potential non-profit board members in the community.  She was paired with Rainbow Child Care Center upon completion of the Boardswork! Program.  That was approximately 6 years ago.  Gail is active in the local community, having served on the Gourmet Gala Board, and as a charter member and float lieutenant in the Krewe of Selene.  She is also serving an elected term on the St. Tammany Parish Democratic Party Executive Committee, and is a member of the League of Women Voters.  She is also a member of the local chapter of American Business Women’s Association.

 

 

Executive Director

Charlotte Champagne - Charlotte has been the Executive Director for Rainbow Child Care Center for nine years.  She is involved in numerous community activities including the Slidell Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Slidell, St. Tammany Commission on Families, Council of United Way Agencies, Slidell Republican Women, the Rotary Club of Slidell, St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, and the Gourmet Gala, an annual fundraiser for Rainbow Child Care Center and K Bar B Youth Ranch.  Charlotte has a BS degree in Business Administration from McNeese State University in Lake Charles and, prior to Rainbow, worked as a Business Analyst for a major oil company in New Orleans.  She has one daughter.

 

 

Center Director

Sybil Harris - Sybil has been with Rainbow Child Care Center for almost 20 years and has served as the Center Director for nearly ten years.  She began as a cook in the early days of Rainbow and worked as a teacher, custodian, and assistant center director.  Sybil oversees the Curriculum Program, Student Enrollment, Staff & Volunteer Orientation, Quality Control and much more.  Rainbow is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and Sybil is coordinating the accreditation process with this national organization.  Sybil is originally from New Orleans, Louisiana and has three children and two grandchildren.
